Ready, Set, Summer: Get Perfect Skin

Skin malaise is never fun, especially in that Spring–Summer transition when everyone’s skin seems to go haywire.
Peep our tips ’n tricks to get Summer ready skin:

Redness/Rosacea: Whether it’s allergies, stress, or your skin just getting used to the stronger sun rays, we swear by Aveeno Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer. The feverfew is key in soothing irritated skin AND it has SPF so it’s perfect for every day use.

Dry Skin: Coconut oil is a great age-old dry skin fix. If you’re acne prone, stick to under the eyes/cheekbones where you are less likely to break out. Also – much of the moisture in our skin is sucked out overnight. Keep a humidifier in your room and leave it on throughout the night!

Dull Skin: Slough off dead winter skin with a handful of brown sugar and coconut oil. Add a couple drops of vanilla for a spa-like experience. Mix the ingredients in the shower and tackle the usual suspects – elbows, knees, feet. Don’t forget your lips, but go easy as that area is sensitive!

MEMORIES WITH MOM
Still looking for the perfect way to celebrate mom? This Mother’s Day (or any day for that matter), give her the best gift of all—more memories with you. Here are our favorite ways to spend time with our favorite person.
1.     Take a cooking class
Make it extra special and try a dish that’s new for you and mom. Tip: We’re fans of Sur La Table and their Mother’s Day Macarons class for a sweet treat.

2.     Volunteer
Do you support the same charity? Great! Don’t have one? Check out Volunteermatch and discover a cause close to both your hearts.

3.     Exercise
Warmer days are the perfect backdrop for a hike, bike ride and great conversation.

4.     Wine tasting
Enjoy toasting to mom, and for relaxing scenery try Malibu Wines' outdoor tasting room. Tip: Take note of her favorite and surprise her with a bottle afterwards.

5.     Cross something off her bucket list
Our favorite. Help mom reach one of her life goals, and get inspired to grow (or start) your own list.

Ready, Set, Summer: Instant Glow

Eeek! It’s time to bare your legs and we know how easy it is to ignore winter skin until the very last minute. Here are our MintStaffers’ best secrets to getting an instant sun-kissed look when there’s no time to wait for a self-tanner.

Frank Body Scrub
This blend of coffee and natural ingredients slough off dead winter skin to reveal glowing, exfoliated limbs.

Tip: Known to smooth cellulite and stretch marks, we swear the coffee darkens your skin ever so slightly.

Nars Body Glow
Great for daytime, put this on for hydration (there’s coconut oil in it) and a bronzed sun-kissed look.

Tip: Apply to front of legs, shoulders and décolletage for added oomph.

Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs
Some of us were a bit freaked out by the idea of body makeup but our experienced MintStaffers swear it stays put and won’t make you orange.

Tip: Mix it with lotion for a more natural look

Maui Babe Browning Lotion
Rather than its intended use as a tan accelerator, this rich cream subs in for a spray tan in a pinch, TRUST.
Tip: We use this at night to accentuate limbs that have yet to see the light of day, but when they do don’t forget the SPF!
